“In this lecture, two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Alan Taylor will discuss the long reach of the American Revolution as the entire continent transformed in the twenty years after the end of the War of Independence. On display will be rare books from FAU’s Marvin and Sybil Weiner Spirit of America collection, the likes of which appeared in the personal libraries of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams. Taylor is the Thomas Jefferson Foundation Chair at the University of Virginia and a regular recipient of national prizes for his books on the early American frontier, political culture, and the War of 1812. Presented by the Howard and Judy Weiner and the Department of History. Reception and book signing with display of eighteenth-century books to follow.”
