Tickets $9 Director Joseph Green produced the most successful film in Yiddish cinema history, starring Molly Picon, queen of the Yiddish theater. In this classic folk comedy Picon disguises herself as a boy to avoid being harassed in the gender biased world. The film, recently restored by the National Center for Jewish Film at Brandies University, is full of famous songs with a memorable musical score by Abraham Ellstein. "The 1935 Yidl turned into the first truly international Yiddish movie hit" (New York Newsday). Q&A with Klezmer Company Orchestra violinist Randi Fishenfeld will follow the film. |

The presentation will also feature famous recordings of Cantor Glantz from FAU Libraries' Judaica Sound Archives. |
